The Triton Museum of Art will host a Spring Art Fair, Saturday, March 13, and Sunday, March 14, featuring works of art by more than thirty regional artists. Original works of ceramic, glass, jewelry, and miniature paintings and sculptures will be showcased throughout the museum. Find unique and one-of-a-kind gifts for Easter, Mother’s Day, birthdays, and those spring weddings on your calendar. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the Triton Museum’s education and exhibition programs. The Triton Museum of Art is located at 1505 Warburton Avenue, Santa Clara, CA.

Art Ark: Art of Truth, Compassion, Tolerance

This traveling exhibition has been shown in more than 40 countries and over 200 cities worldwide. Last year a preview was held at the San Jose City Hall Rotunda. The show features oil paintings by 12 artists including: Kunlun Zhang, Xiaoping Chen, Yuan Li, Kathleen Gillis, and Xiqiang Dong whose art portrays the experiences, visions, and hope of Falun Dafa followers as they attempt to safeguard justice and peace while upholding their values in truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance. Djerassi: Walk in the Wild Sculpture Tours

Eblast-Tours10.JPGThe Djerassi Program’s highly popular “Walk in the Wild” Sculpture Tours begins in March 2010! Come see the wilds of Djerassi’s SMIP Ranch on a Two-Mile Tour led by Djerassi Program staff, or splurge on a Director’s Tour and bring your lunch to tour and picnic with our Executive Director Dennis O’Leary. Six, Two-Mile Tours and Five, Directors Tours are available.  Public registration starts on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, starting at 9am. Djerassi Program Members may begin registering on Wednesday, March 3rd, at 9am.

Two-Mile Tour registration is free and limited to 2 places for the General Public. Djerassi Program Members may register for 4 places. Director’s Tours registration is $50 for the General Public and $40 for Djerassi Program Members.

The Alameda County Arts Commission is now accepting applications for new Public Art Registries. Many of Alameda County’s capital improvement projects include a Percent-for-Art Program in which professional artists are commissioned to make artwork for each site. Due to the upcoming schedule of construction projects, many of the artists commissioned for these public art projects will be selected from two registries of pre-qualified artists (Artist Registries).

1. Artist Registry 2010-2011: Permanent, Site-Specific Public Artwork | Deadline: March 19, 2010
Open to professional artists residing in California.*
This Registry is for artists who have experience making permanent, site-specific public artwork; opportunities will be available for exterior and interior projects, be appropriate for artists working in a variety of materials and styles, and have a range of project budgets. Individual contracts may range from approximately $20,000 to $200,000.

2. Artist Registry 2010-2011: Small-Scale, Wall-Mounted Artwork | Deadline: March 19, 2010
Open to artists who live, work, or rent/own a studio in Alameda County.*
This Registry is for artists who are making small to mid-sized, wall-mounted, two-dimensional or low-relief artwork. Individual contracts may range from $4,000 to $20,000; artists may be commissioned to make a one new artwork or a new series of work.

* Additional eligibility restrictions for artists who currently have work in the Alameda County Art Collection. Refer to the complete application for details or call the Arts Commission office at (510) 208-9646 for more information.

To be considered for these opportunities, artists must register and submit an application through the CaFÉ website (search for “Alameda County”). San Jose Public Art Program: Call for Artist

San Jose/Santa Clara Water Pollution Control Plant, Master Plan & Design Team Artist, Request for Qualifications

The City of San José Public Art Program is seeking an experienced public artist or team to collaborate with the consultant planning team for the San Jose/Santa Clara Water Pollution Control Plant Master Plan (PMP). The selected artist/team will work collaboratively with the Master Plan Consultants to provide an artist’s perspective on the overall design of the PMP, as well as identify opportunities to include public art of their design (or by others) into the development of the San Jose/Santa Clara Water Pollution Control Plant (Plant). The build-out of the master plan will commence approximately two years after the completion of the Master Plan and continue for approximately 10-15 years depending on the adopted scope and available funding.

PROJECT BUDGET: $120,000

DEADLINE: MIDNIGHT (Mountain Time) on Thursday, March 11, 2010. This is an online application process only and the deadline cannot be extended

ARTIST ELIGIBILITY
This opportunity is open to individual artists or artist-led teams working or living in the United States. All applicants must have all necessary documentation and permits to work in the United States at the time of submittal of qualifications.

If submitting as a team, a professional artist with public art experience must be the lead team member.

Only artist/teams that have completed a large scale public art projects and/or planning projects with a total aggregate (planning, design and implementation) budget greater than $300,000 will be considered.

Artists currently under contract for an art project with the City of San José Public Art Program are not eligible to apply for this project unless their current project will be complete by May 2010, or the project is currently suspended with no proposed re-activation date.

APPLICATION PROCESS
All materials will be submitted online, via CaFÉ™ website (www.callforentry.org). There is no application fee to apply or to use the CaFÉ™ system.
