Wednesday, January 5, 12 – 1 PM Lunchtime Lecture: “Yes, But Is It Art?” Artmaking¬† in a Digital Age
Artist and educator Griff Williams (owner of Gallery 16 and Urban Digital Color in San Francisco) explores the challenges of new media and digital art. Lunchtime Lectures take place on the first Wednesday of the month in the Charlotte Wendel Education Center. Visitors are welcome to bring a lunch. This program is free for members.

Thursday, January 6, 5 – 8 PM Creative Minds: Sammy Rodriguez and Matthew Rodriguez of Shorty Fatz
Sammy Rodriguez and Matthew Rodriguez of Shorty Fatz share a passion for art and bicycles. They craft custom art bikes in their San Jose design center and collaborate on public art projects throughout the region. Join this dynamic duo for an up close, energetic conversation and demonstration. Free for members.

DIY ART: Portraits of the Figure

View the portraits of Robert Mapplethorpe, who documented the pantheon of art-world personalities in New York in the 1980s, then draw from a live model. Examine the essence of Mapplethorpe’s images and then discover your own perspective of portraiture. Free for members. Art materials provided.
