The Print Center at the ICA offers something to suit all creative interests and ability levels.
If you are new to printmaking and artmaking, our small workshop sizes create the ideal environment for experimentation and immediate creative gratification! If you have printmaking experience, our instructors are among the finest working artists
in the Bay Area – come collaborate in our studio and investigate new techniques.

Fall 2010 Workshop Schedule

September 22, 25 and October 2: Non-Toxic Copper Etching
with Fanny Retsek

This is a combination class for those who have done etching and want to work on a specific or
advanced project as well as a beginning workshop for those with no etching experience. Come
and learn this non-toxic method and make contemporary prints like the Old Masters!

Time: Wednesday evening, September 22, 6 – 9 (demo and project discussion) followed by two consecutive Saturdays, September 25 and October 2, 10 – 5. Cost: $300 (includes all materials
plus 2 plates).

October 9, 10, 16 & 17: Monotype and Drypoint with Jenny Robinson

This 2 weekend workshop covers in-depth monotype techniques as well as non-toxic, low cost
drypoint techniques made from cardboard. Participants will be able to make a unique small
edition of monoprints. Techniques covered include direct painting onto a plexiglass plate using
brushes, rollers, and stencils, as well as multiple-drop printing combining the drypoint plate.
Time: 10:00 – 5:00.  Cost: $500  (includes all materials).
