It’s live! The Museum of Quilts & Textiles has officially started the fusionwear sv project/experiment.

In this project/experiment, the community is invited to submit images that capture their Silicon Valley experience. Artist Corinne Okada Takara will use these images as inspiration to design our own Silicon Valley print — in the spirit of the Hawaiian print. The public is also invited to submit their own Silicon Valley textile designs to our design contest. The public will vote to select the winners – and the winners will receive yardage of fabric digitally printed with their design, a Museum membership, and the winning designs will appear in the artwear installation to be on view in the Museum during the 2010 01 SJ Biennial beginning September 16. This artwear installation — which will fill a Museum gallery during the 2010 01 SJ Biennial — will be a collaboration between couture and artwear designer Colleen Quen and artist Corinne Okada Takara and will include several of the textile designs generated by this community project/experiment.
