2011 VISIONS FROM THE NEW CALIFORNIA AWARD: CALL FOR ARTISTS

The Visions from the New California awards seek to support and promote the work of outstanding California visual artists from geographically and ethnically diverse communities. Six highly talented, yet under-recognized visual artists residing in California will be selected to receive a one-month residency and a $4,000 award. Applications will be accepted from artists in all visual media who:

(1) are permanent residents of California;

(2) are not currently students and/or will not be students in 2011; and

(3) have not participated in an artist residency previously.

Artists selected for the 2010 Midwestern Voices and Visions awards will receive a one-month residency, a $4000 grant, promotion through an internationally-distributed publication, and inclusion in an exhibition/performance.

Application Deadline: May 20, 2010

The participating residency programs are: 18th Street Arts Center (Santa Monica), Djerassi Resident Artists Program (Woodside), Exploratorium (San Francisco), Headlands Center for the Arts (Sausalito), Kala Art Institute (Berkeley), and The Sally & Don Lucas Artists Programs at Montalvo (Saratoga).
