ICA Print CenterIn memory of Michele Scott, former Board member and dear friend of the ICA, we are very pleased to announce the recent naming of the Michele J. Scott Open Access Printmaking Program at the ICA.

As a longtime supporter of the ICA, Michele led a small group of visionaries who were determined to have a printmaking facility included in the ICA in the early planning stages of the new facility. It is in large part thanks to Michele’s tireless dedication and enthusiasm that we were able to realize that dream. Since opening in 2007, the ICA Print Center has hosted 30 workshops, eight Artists-in-Residence and 25 open access work days. Of all the Print Center programs, open access days are the most popular among our artist members.

The Michele J. Scott Open Access Program is available to artists familiar with the printmaking process to use as their own studio work space. Any artist who demonstrates an understanding of the medium is eligible to use the studio’s supplies, the press, and/or digital equipment (the certification program is offered free at the Print Center). This is especially helpful to graduates of local arts programs who no longer have access to university facilities, and artists who do not have the resources or studio space to own their own equipment.

Open access days at the Print Center are held on the first Sunday of the month from 10am – 4:30pm ($15 per hour). Upcoming open access days: Sunday, January 24 and March 7 (and the first Sunday of the month thereafter). Contact Fanny Retsek for more information.

We also invite you to take advantage of the wide range of printmaking workshops and programs offered for novices and experienced artists at the ICA Print Center. The 2010 ICA Print Center Workshop and Michele J. Scott Open Access Program schedule will be available in January.

We look forward to seeing you in the gallery and in the Print Center, soon!
